Overview
The BIPM and the National Metrology Institute of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK UME) are running a joint training initiative entitled "BIPM–TÜBİTAK UME project placements".
The initiative provides opportunities for young metrologists to gain in-depth knowledge and experience by conducting research on a subject of their choosing for a period of 1 to 3 months in TÜBİTAK UME's laboratories. In addition, it is expected that participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures delivered at TÜBİTAK UME by experts from both the BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME. Training in the laboratory will help participants to achieve their project goals while delivering the wider benefit of developing the technical skills required by researchers from emerging NMIs/DIs as necessary to enhance their engagement in the CIPM MRA.
The initiative is aimed at young metrologists ranging from those that are relatively inexperienced through to those with more experience. The programme is open for the scientific and technical staff from Member States or Associates (and from NMIs that are in advanced negotiations with the BIPM to become a Member State or Associate). Potential attendees should submit their scientific interests and intentions as a project. The training programme will be designed individually for each participant, taking into account the participant's research area and the laboratory capabilities at TÜBİTAK UME.
