BIPM 150th: 9 Standout Scientific Posters Announced

The BIPM is proud to unveil the nine scientific posters selected for preview at the 150th Anniversary Scientific Conference, taking place at UNESCO from 21–22 May 2025.

Chosen from nearly 400 submissions received from around the world, these standout posters address some of the most pressing challenges in modern metrology—from quantum technologies and digital transformation to health, education and sustainability.

Each winning poster was selected by the BIPM Poster Committee from one of nine key topic areas, reflecting the breadth and innovation driving the global metrology community.

The Selected Posters

1. Mringie Dorothy
The ‘light fingerprint’ of rubidium for precise atomic clocks

2. Kai Fuu Ming
Isotopic Measurements for Energy Transition to Low-Carbon Fuels

3. Giangrande Chiara
Standardisation of measurements of neurodegenerative disease biomarkers: the NEUROBIOSTAND project

4. Adrian Pegoraro
Transforming food and water safety with innovative nanoscale plastic reference materials

5. Oijai ONGRAI
Collaborative metrology efforts for sustainable energy solutions in the Asia-Pacific

6. Sarah Hill
Enabling the recycling of technology-critical elements from e-waste through metrology

7. Daniel Schwabe
On the path to quality assurance of trustworthy AI in medicine: the METRIC-framework for systematically assessing medical training and test data

8. Martina Marzano
Towards an easier realisation of the ohm with the quantum anomalous Hall effect

9. Elizabeth Benham
Building the next generation of metrologists: opportunities to improve SI education and scientific literacy at 150 years and beyond

In addition, a special mention goes to Cristhian Alfredo Paredes Cardona, whose poster titled Perceptual Metrology: A Future Frontier in Human Well-Being was selected as part of our Young Metrologists feature for the 150th Anniversary.

The lead authors of these nine selected posters will be invited to present their work during the live poster workshops on 21 May 2025 at the Palais des Congrès in Versailles, as part of the scientific programme marking the 150th anniversary. We warmly invite all attendees to join the session and hear directly from the researchers shaping the future of measurement.

Additionally, all accepted posters are now available to explore as electronic posters on the BIPM150 website. We encourage you to browse the full collection and discover how measurement science is helping to address challenges across an extraordinary range of fields.

We sincerely thank every contributor for their passion, creativity and insight — your work makes this 150th anniversary a truly global celebration of metrology in action
