Links between the BIPM and the ICG

• The BIPM is an observer of the ICG.
• Dr Patrizia Tavella and Dr Giulio Tagliaferro participate in ICG meetings and the activities related to time references.

Purpose

The ICG, established by the United Nations, strives to encourage and facilitate compatibility, interoperability and transparency between all the satellite navigation systems, to promote and protect the use of their open service applications and thereby benefit the global community.

The BIPM and the ICG cooperate to promote the use of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) infrastructure on a global basis, particularly in timing applications, and to promote the regular use of metrology standards. Most actions of the BIPM are related within the ICG Working Group D - Reference Frames, Timing and Applications.
