Purpose
ISO develops and publishes voluntary International Standards, which give state-of-the-art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, ISO standards help to break down barriers to international trade.
The BIPM and ISO cooperate to ensure appropriate and consistent use of SI units, and the correct treatment of other metrological aspects, in ISO standards.
