BIPM-ITU MoU

Links between the BIPM and ITU

• The BIPM is a Sector Member of the ITU Radiocommunication Sector ( ITU-R).
• ITU is one of the partners in INetQI.
• ITU-R participates in the CCTF.
• There is ongoing work related to the UTC time scale, particularly its dissemination and realization.

Purpose

ITU was founded to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks. The mission of ITU-R is to ensure the rational, equitable, efficient and economical use of the radio-frequency spectrum by all radiocommunication services, including those using satellite orbits, and to carry out studies and approve Recommendations on radiocommunication matters.

The BIPM and ITU cooperate to ensure coordination on issues related to UTC, realization and dissemination and that ITU-R documentation including recommendations, reports and handbooks relevant to time and frequency dissemination signals, particularly when concerned with terminology, nomenclature, symbols and other conventions, is consistent with the SI.
