Links between the BIPM and WADA

• Dr Steven Westwood (BIPM Chemistry Department) has been an invited independent member of the WADA Laboratory Expert Group Committee since 2009.
• WADA have supported CCQM workshops with presentations on standards needs in the anti-doping field.
• In September 2016 the BIPM hosted a BIPM-WADA Symposium on Standards and Metrology in support of Anti-Doping Analysis.

Purpose

The mission of WADA is to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport.

The BIPM and WADA cooperate to contribute directly to oversight of accredited anti-doping laboratory performance and the development of technical documents, raise awareness within WADA of the issues of metrological traceability and measurement uncertainty, ensure appropriate use of the SI units in the standardization of doping control measurements and promote the development of reference measurements systems for measures important in doping control.
