Carine Michotte, a Physicist in the BIPM Ionizing Radiation Department, was elected as a Vice-President of the International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology (ICRM) on 15 June 2021.
In November 2021 a new record of sixteen different frequency standards operated by eleven laboratories contributed to the accuracy of International Atomic Time TAI. They include three recently developed optical lattice clocks. This achievement is another step towards a future redefinition of the second.
The BIPM is studying new graphene-based QHR samples which offer an alternative to GaAs based standards and which will allow the transition to a compact graphene-based reference in a few years.
The BIPM and CODATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 11 October 2021.
