The aim of the RTWG is to enable the CCRI and CCRI Sections I and II to identify where metrology in the fields of radioactivity and absorbed dose measurement can improve the effectiveness of radionuclide-based therapy (RT) and coordinate activities to address this, particularly in the fields of quantitative imaging and patient dosimetry.
The RTWG:
- Brings together international experts from the field of Metrology and RT to understand where metrology can impact the effectiveness of RT.
- Coordinates activities to achieve this, including
- Provide advice to the NMIs on the relevant standards needed to increase the safety and effectiveness of RT procedures;
- Proposing new comparison exercises and evaluating the outcomes in order to benchmark NMI/DI claimed competencies;
- Developing best practice guidance on running such comparison exercises;
- Proposing the format for CMC claims in this field and providing advice to facilitate claims; and
- Assisting in establishing inter-laboratory research, pilot studies, clinical trials, and other work.
- Builds links with appropriate stakeholders, including those responsible for developing good practice guidance around measurements in clinical settings.
- Reports its findings to CCRI Sections I and II and advises on any implications for radionuclide metrology and radiation dosimetry.
