FORUM-MD Working Group on coordination between Regional Metrology Organizations (FORUM-MD-WG-RMO)

Terms of reference

The Terms of reference of the FORUM-MD- WG-RMO (version 1.0, approved on February 21, 2025) are the following:

Membership:

• RMO chairpersons on digitalization.
• representatives and individual scientists from NMIs members/observers/liaisons of FORUM-MD.
• Individual scientists from NMI that are not members/observers/liaisons which expertise coincides with term of references of the TG/WG
• Guests can be invited by the chair on a one-off basis.

Members are appointed by the Chair of the FORUM-MD, in consultation with the WG chairperson.

Chairperson:

• The chairmanship of WGRMO should rotate among RMO Digitalization chairpersons
• The TG/WG chairperson is appointed by the Chair of the FORUM-MD, with the agreement of the FORUM-MD.

The mandate of the chairperson is 2 years.

Area:

The purpose of this group is to harmonize procedures on different digitalization topics between the RMOs, interacting with the FORUM MD Task Groups and Working Groups.

Activities:

• Coordinate the work between RMOs in the field of Digital Transformation in Metrology.
• Exchange information on activities in regions to share knowledge transfer and explore synergies.
• Communicate regional needs, relating to digital transformation, to the Forum, the CIPM, the BIPM.
• Provide a link through RMOs between the Forum and every NMI (and their stakeholders), including NMIs that are not participating in the work of the Forum and are not yet the Signatories of the CIPM MRA and/or the Metre Convention, and
• Discuss the needs of the emerging NMIs.
